Types of insulation

Loft and cavity wall insulation are both affordabe upgrades that can cut your energy bills. It's worth checking with your installer if your home would also need extra ventilation. It can help you get the best out of your insulation, prevent damp and mould, and filter dust and other pollutants.

Laid between the loft floor, loft insulation creates a barrier in your roof space to prevent heat from escaping. Loft insulation can last up to 42 years.

If your home was built after the 1920s, it's likely to have cavity wall. Cavity walls are made of two layers with a gap or ‘cavity’ between them. Cavity wall insulation can last up to 42 years.
